Professional Experience
Stuart specializes in commercial litigation in Oregon and Washington involving governance of business entities and construction defects. He also provides transactional work for start-up energy clients. Stuart has extensive experience with insurance defense litigation involving commercial policies and franchise litigation. Stuart has worked with several multi-state law firms utilizing his skills in commercial/securities litigation and transactional work and has provided litigation for clients in both the U.S. and abroad.
Education
Stuart earned a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University. He later attained his J.D. from the University of Oregon, where he served as editor-in-chief of the law review and was a member of the National Moot Court Team.
Professional Affiliation
Stuart currently serves as arbitrator for court mandated arbitration in the Multnomah County Circuit Court. He is a member of the California, Oregon and Washington State Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice in Federal District Courts in California, Oregon, and Western District of Washington and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Stuart currently serves on the Professional Ethics Committee and the Fee Arbitration Panel for the Oregon State Bar and has served on the Practice and Procedure, Continuing Legal Education and Client Security Fund Committees.
Civic Affiliation
Stuart currently offers pro bono representation in administrative, circuit court and court of appeals matters for the League of Women Voters of Portland. He is also a member of the U.S., Canadian and World Championship boating teams for the Willamette Rowing Club. Additionally, Stuart is an Eagle Scout and parent volunteer for the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of America. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Portland Classical Chinese Garden.
Personal
Stuart’s interests include spending time with his family and participating in competitive rowing. He also enjoys history and gardening.
